       Our actual Thassos Dream come true

Yes, this is it, Olive Tree House. As mentioned on other pages, it all started with our first holiday abroad and little did we know what was to lie ahead! Our actual Thassos dream come true is our beautiful house which enables us to live amongst our Greek friends in idylic surroundings with a life style we look forward to enjoy.

 It had long been our dream to at least find a small plot of land on Thassos island. If we could do that, we would own a part of Greece. This then moved on to maybe a plot of land to landscape with a caravan or similar for holidays, which progressed to maybe a concrete foundation for a house in the future finances permitting.

 After looking at several pieces of land in and around the Rachoni and Prinos areas, we stumbled upon a partly built house near Agios Georgios village with 500 sq/m of land and a small stream running from the mountains past the bottom of our rear garden. This is too good to be true we thought! It was perfect. Gregory Nagoulidis at www.thassos-properties.com had the property on his books and arranged for us to have a good look around. We looked at the property, went away, then looked again, thought carefully and decided to go for it!

 While on the island, before we had to go back to England, we saw the lawyer, organised a Power of Attorney for actions to take place in our absence and got a tax number sorted out. Over the coming weeks Gregory dealt with the lawyer, the Notary, the previous owner, checked that the land was clean and contacted an architect,Tolis Mironis for his thoughts. This was a great burden lifted from our shoulders, as it would have been very difficult for us to do this and understand what had to be done by law. Once the purchase was complete, we spoke with Tolis who looked at our drawings and agreed a price for the house build completion.

 All in all, as you must realise by now, we are very pleased with the result! We have had part of the building downstairs converted into a self contained apartment for rental purposes in the future. This is a fully self contained, one bedroom apartment to sleep 2 or possibly 3 with cooking facilities and a separate bathroom.

 We have added other things ourselves since the build completion including a security alarm system and outbuildings work.
